Wal-Mart is suing an Icelandic artist and dragging him to arbitration court
in Switzerland in Mars because of a paintingname Wa1-Mart.com

The Akureyri native, aptly named Lárus H. List, with "list" meaning
"art" in Icelandic, created the piece two years ago and based it upon
Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, then named it "Wa1m-ART."

It was intended to be a comment on lies hiden underneath capitalism greed, the painting was meant as a symbol of the consumer greed of America and to protest the Iraq War.

Once his painthing was finished List bought the domain name
http://www.wa1mart.com/, and sow this artwork Wa1mART in
Kling og Bang Gallery which seems to have
angered Wal-Mart so much they filed a suit claiming List needs to abandon
this website as it too closely visionl resembles the company website http://www.wal-mart.com/

List said the idea behind his Mona Lisa- oil painting art work, was meant as a symbol of the consumer greed of America, like in Art and politiks we do not have or see the hole picture.

British lawyer Graham Ross http://www.themediationroom.com/ has offered List to represent his case. List said one of the idea behind his Mona
Lisa-based
artwork was to criticize American greed and cultural hegemony and that
Wal-Mart’s lawsuit has proven his point.
